Probationary Minister – Erica Wishart

EricaI was born on the west side of Edinburgh but have moved around a lot over the years so I’m delighted to be back in my home town, especially living at the seaside!  My husband Bill and I have two grown-up sons and a daughter, and in January 2013 we were blessed with our first grandchild, Holly Ava Rose.  Bill is currently serving as the Locum at Portobello Old Parish Church.

Before starting my ministry training in 2009, I was a primary school teacher for over 20 years; I taught in mainstream education and in a school for deaf children, then worked as a specialist teacher for children with learning difficulties.

My three great loves are people, nature and music.  I play clarinet, penny whistle, guitar and bodhran.  I also enjoy swimming, hiking, tennis, cycling, birdwatching and writing poetry.

St Philip’s is a wonderful church: it’s friendly, open and there’s plenty going on.  I’m sure I will learn a lot during probation that will help me in my future ministry.
