Breakfast Club

IMG_0839Breakfast club (BC) is a youth group for young people in secondary school.  BC is space for young people to think about their faith while engaging with other young people in discussions and activities.  All young people are welcome, regardless of their church background.

 

We meet during school term in the main hall from 9:30am to 10:30am on Sunday mornings for breakfast and activities.  Our activities Breakfast Club 2including discussions on faith, ethics, and world issues; crafts and card making; listening to guest speakers on a variety of topics; baking; games and working on community and church projects.  For breakfast, we serve bacon and sausage rolls, cereal, bananas, biscuits, milk and juice.  Each person brings in £1.50 each week towards breakfast costs.

Breakfast club alsoBreakfast Club 1 has social events throughout the year and summer break. ave film nights, BBQs and participate in the Portobello Youth Café which is held three times a year at the Old Parish Café.  We go on an outdoor adventure retreat in June for rock climbing, kayaking, ropes courses and other fun activities. In the winter, we take our oldest youth group members away for a weekend for a spiritual, reflective, yet energizing retreat.

The highlight of the BC schedule each year is our Easter Vigil.  The night before Easter, we stay up all night in the church for prayer, worship, games, crafts, drama, baking and much, much more. We finish this event with sunrise Easter morning service up at the beach and the bacon/sausage roll breakfast after that.  This is also when P7s are welcome to rise up to youth group. From Easter onwards, P7s are part of the youth group.Breakfast club 3

Breakfast Club is part of the larger Portobello and Joppa Parish Church Family.  We often take part in worship or social events with the congregation to keep connected to the larger church family.
